Wolhyang — Month 9 · Chrysanthemum

“Bet it all. Only then will I truly face you.”

Spirit of September's Chrysanthemum and mistress of Hwawollu. A queen with long black hair, golden eyes, a black robe patterned with chrysanthemums, and a jeweled hairpin. She never cheats. Her very presence is pressure itself—guests sitting before her see their hands fall apart first. Her gaze, tilting a chrysanthemum wine cup as she watches the game, is elegant, but that elegance is its own weight. She keeps the Twelve Month Spirits held in the endless night, and tells no one why. To make her look you in the eye, you will have to put everything on the line.
